“Movers & Shakers,” a successful collaboration between music, movement and “play,” combines creative and representational elements. Extensive empirical research documents the value of play in physical, cognitive, and social development. In this structured class, children and caregivers explore spatial relationships, time (rhythm), weight, body orientation, and representational and creative thinking. Music and rhymes throughout the class support movement with emphasis on motor planning and body awareness, major building blocks for gaining self-confidence and school readiness. Soft-play equipment is integrated at the end of class.
Perpetual Motion (8 months – 15 months) Is your bundle of joy a little too mobile to sit down for our classic music class? We are offering a fabulous solution to meet the needs of your baby’s adventurous spirit. In this class, we will do a “mini version” of our traditional music class where we visit all the highlights and touch upon all the fundamentals of the music curriculum. Then, at the end of each class, we will bring out our “soft play” equipment so the little ones can crawl, climb and explore their surroundings. A beautiful combination of instruction and freedom.
Travelers (16-24 months) We’ll explore the many different ways we can move through space in this class. This slightly less structured class (appropriate for this active age group) is infused with lively music and activity songs. This model is perfect for the child who loves to run around and explore his surroundings.
Explorers (2-4 years) Explorers focuses on the many different ways we love to move through music and creative play. Explorers bring tehir own creative ideas to the class as they learn about direction, weight and balance, body awareness and dancing. We’ll walk, run, wiggle, spin and shake, as well as continue to use familiar rhymes to stretch and exercise and create. Creative expression and improvisation is an intricate part of this class as children love to show what they have learned and how they can use it.
Family Adventurers (mixed ages) A fun-filled class with music and movement for all ages combining our music class and Movers & Shakers activities. Perfect for the whole family!
